Kaohsiung Customs reports a growing number of counterfeit goods being seized and penalized. Due to the convenience of online shopping, consumers may unknowingly purchase counterfeit products without checking whether the trademarks are legally authorized.
Customs explains that during inspections of imported goods, if trademark infringement is suspected, the trademark owner will be asked to verify the goods. If infringement is confirmed, the case will be referred to judicial authorities for prosecution or administrative penalties in accordance with relevant regulations.
Consumers are reminded that common counterfeit items include branded watches, bags, clothing, electronics, and mechanical parts. To avoid legal risks and potential losses, buyers should verify that the goods they purchase online are legally authorized.
